Since he retired, Ian has written and published an autobiography, “The Accidental Headhunter”.
Following his graduation from Witwatersrand University, Ian gained practical experience in heavy construction, operational research and corporate planning in Africa and the United Kingdom. He joined McKinsey & Co's Australian practice in 1967 as a Management Consultant and later transferred to Henry Jones (IXL) Ltd where he was a member of its Executive Committee during several years of dynamic expansion. Later he served as General Manager of Corporate Administration and Company Secretary of the Australian National Line.
He is now a coach and mentor to several senior executives and is also a Board member of the National Trust in Tasmania. Ian holds a civil engineering degree and was a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia and of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
